Solar Power an RV System: Breaking Things Down

According to one recent study, a typical RV needs about 120 watts of energy on average to function. Likewise, a standard solar panel for an RV can generate between 100 and 400 watts of power.

So if you’re installing 400 watt panels, this means that you’ll need roughly three to maintain your current energy demands. If you’re installing 200 watt panels, you’ll want roughly 10. In general, you can get away with any combination that allows you to meet that standard demand of roughly 120 watts of energy under normal circumstances.
